From Silence to Strength — My Second Year Story

The First Obstacle on My Comeback

Second Year, Lecture 1 — and my real test

✦ ✦ ✦

"In my last blog, I said my real story was just beginning. This part is that beginning — and it was just as hard as I expected."

Hello everyone! 🙏

I left off my last blog with full confidence, ready to start my comeback with new hope. But honestly — the word "comeback" sounds beautiful when you hear it, but it feels heavy from the inside. Because to stand up again, you first have to put your feet back on the same ground where you once fell. And that is exactly what I want to share today — the first step of my comeback, and how I stumbled right in that very step.

Day One — 9th July

College started on 6th July, but I went on the 9th. There was some fear, some tension — but stronger than that was one firm decision in my heart: to forget everything that happened before and start fresh.

It was the first lecture. Like always, my friend and I went and sat on the last bench. But the teacher called us to the front bench. We went and sat there.

The teacher was teaching. But my mind was somewhere else — I had a DSA code running in my head, and I was mentally writing that same code. Suddenly the teacher made me stand up and asked me a question.

I hadn't been paying attention at all.

I couldn't answer anything. I was humiliated in front of 150 students.

But sometimes, the biggest humiliation in life is the start of the biggest change — that moment doesn't break you, it shapes you.

That Same Moment, and the Storm Right After

I don't know what the teacher thought, but I know one thing — I had caused myself a huge loss. I told the teacher straight up, "Sir, I can't answer this question of yours." And inside, I felt terrible.

My English used to be so good — I've given speeches before, stood on stage and spoken without fear upto 12 th std. And today I couldn't even give a simple answer. Forget the answer — I couldn't even make eye contact with anyone. The same girl who once stood confidently in front of 100 people was now avoiding eyes in her own classroom. I started fearing everyone, even my own class. How did I change so much? — this question wouldn't even let me sleep at night.

I was never a quiet person. But my failure made me so silent. This silence isn't my ego — sometimes silence is just how I hide a lot of pain.

That day, I didn't mark attendance and went straight to the hostel. I sat quietly for two hours. Only one thought was in my head —

"Now I'll have to start from zero again. But I won't let these 17 years of hard work go to waste."

And in that very moment, I got back to studying.

Don't be afraid to start from zero — because someone who has once seen the top never forgets how to find the way back there.

From That Night Onward — My New Daily Routine

That decision on Day One became a habit I've kept up ever since. Here's what my days look like now.

My hostel is 2.2 km from college. I wake up at 6 am, go for a walk, and get ready quickly by 9 am. I reach college at 9:22. After lectures, I'm back at the hostel by 5:30 pm. I freshen up in 15 minutes —

There are 30 girls in my hostel, all in 11th-12th grade, preparing for IIT and CET classes. They come and sit with me for half an hour. If they have doubts, I solve them, and I share my own experiences with them. I tell them about my mistakes so that they don't repeat them —

"Don't leave your dream college for someone else's dream. It's easy to dream big — but I know exactly what happens when that dream breaks."

My own dreams broke, but from that breaking, I learned to protect someone else's dreams today — maybe that is what real healing looks like.

At 6 pm, I call my father and talk to him. Then I sit down to study right away — the first hour is YouTube lectures, then 2 hours of problem solving, 30 minutes on GitHub, and then revision. This goes on until 2 am. Then I sleep.

I know my sleep is reducing, and I might fall sick. But I'm not going to stop now. Whatever happens — I will give my 100%. And I believe that one day, my hard work will make destiny bow before me.

Honestly, I'm used to sleeping less. Even during my CET preparation, I only slept 5 hours. That time, my dream didn't come true — but I have the satisfaction that I did put in the effort. This time too, I'm holding on to the hope that my hard work won't go to waste, and I'm going to give my best.

Hard work is never wasted — it just asks for time. And in front of someone willing to give that time, even destiny pauses and thinks twice.

At night, when I close my eyes, my body is tired, but my mind is at peace — because I know I didn't give up today.

In the End, I Just Want to Say This

That one moment — the humiliation in front of 150 people — was embarrassing for me, but it turned out to be my real turning point. A comeback doesn't mean everything gets fixed in one day. It happens slowly, every day, one stumble at a time.

Today's part is about that stumble — but I'm standing, and I'm going to keep walking. Because I've understood one thing for certain now — a path isn't wrong just because it isn't straight, and falling doesn't mean losing.

And if you ever feel like you've lost — in front of 150 people, or in front of your own eyes — remember this: losing is not the end, it's just a turn in the road. The day you decide to get up even after falling, the real fight starts turning in your favor from that very day. Life never asks you to walk a straight path — it only asks one thing: "Will you get up after falling?" And the day you say "yes," that's the day your real story begins. Never lose your courage — because standing back up is the biggest victory there is.

Coming soon — the next part, about my backlogs journey, how I'm managing college pressure, and my technical journey.

"I'm searching for that girl who used to top her class, who used to give speeches on stage, whose English was good. That girl is still somewhere inside me — I just have to find her again." — an ordinary girl, still figuring it out
